Our Love is Like a Fire
Our love is like a fire, That burrows in the soul, Consuming, with it, the heart. Our passion is no wet match But, instead, a torch That lights the way to happiness. No other woman, No other girl, Could ignite such a blaze in me. For you, darling, are my tender, My kindling, My fuel. And with you My fire, my passion, Will never die.
My love is like a bomb Undetected, until the blast, Taking many. And though I cried, Peace! Peace! Peace! I secretly foretold the end. Then the tragedy that always befalls, Leaves you sad and dying. Yet you forgive, Hence the armistice. I hate, I hate, I hate, Me not you. The bomb explodes again, Your mercy tested twice. And so I die, Not by my hand, But by yours.
Her face is aglow To all those who know That God, she would never beseech Because beauty is never out of her reach.
~A rivulet runs through my soul~
A rivulet runs through my soul Taking, with it, the feelings I had For the sweet Marie. And as it erodes, each memory Is carried further away from me. For no other memory felt so sad Then of Marie who made me whole. The rivulet is flowing smoothly Hopefully curing my melancholy. Never likely, never so. Of a greater love,I will never know.
~The light of millions~
The light of millions Shine at midnight. Different passions, Concealed in fright Of daytime watchers Peering in. Only nights Can hide their sin. Beacon dreams, Safe from sight. The light of millions Shine at midnight.
Bottomless I feel when I’m alone A hunger for something More filling than meat More quenching than The spring A hunger for something Required to be whole I thought I knew of one such thing Though love proved not its definition (Chance can be so cruel) Many months and Numerous years Have healed the wound Though the scar and the hunger Remain
Knuckles clenched White As the snow That covers her grave Vengeance, anger, fire I feel Only because There is no one To blame
~Telegram for you~
I am very lonely STOP On this train ride STOP From home to brief work out-of-state. STOP My only thoughts are of you. STOP I met a lovely stewardess STOP And talked to her about you. STOP I miss you. STOP My only fear STOP Is that you’ll leave me STOP While I’m gone STOP And that when that happens STOP My only thoughts STOP On the train ride home STOP Will be of you. STOP
In the darkness, We found each other. In the shadows, we stay. But the light of the morning Is invading the day And the love songs we sing Shatter in morrow light. As gold the enemy of Jaiet. Oh how our love clings to night! This gleam a threat, Warned by mother, Will leave us wanting less.
I am nothing. You are everything. To express it simply, With no other connotations, I want you And nothing else. In this dark Cataclysmic world, You are the beacon of hope That breaks through the shadows Of my fractured self.
The Monotonous creak of rubber against concrete Where lost is the void between North and south Up and down Home and homeless A wild right takes you to West End Avenue The Slums Hell You’ve seen these things, these places, many times before You are a wanderer A drifter Forgotten by the desolate city you inhabit Home is not home Hell is not Hell Dreams are not real ...
~I have died once before~
I have died Once before. Not a mortal death But a Spiritual Lover’s death. And it is only Between Mortal lovers That this occurs. And that, My friends, Is The real Tragedy.
It is only me Alone with her. Separate thoughts In a silent room. No one dares to speak; No one ever will.
~Bird on wire~
The man was walking down the street On a mild springtime day When he came across a bird Perching on a telephone wire. It quickly flew away and Lowering his head, the man sadly said, “I am the telephone wire.”
~A love forgotten~
The sound of flapping wings And bird songs in the trees Remind me of something I cannot remember Rushing water off the falls Harmonize with the bluebird’s calls Feelings of woe fill my soul I cannot remember A woman maybe Yes A lover? I cannot remember Love will always bloom Where I am not It is always this way I cannot remember
Destroy everyone who is against you and you will undoubtedly destroy part of...– Nathaniel Patterson
You say you are not a poet But all of us are. Every breath brings forth New stanzas of Unrhymed life. And even the less fortunate Dabble in their rhymes, As do all of us Throughout our lives.
~Heaven has a library~
Heaven has a library, Just you wait and see. God made all the authors, Even you and me.
~The religion of hope~
Never break a poet’s heart. It has been damaged Too many times before. A poet knows sadness, All too well. A poet is a pacifist And a lover. A poet searches for someone Who will never break their heart. A poet knows hope And believes in it, Like no one else ever could.
Of all things, I believe in dreams And their power To make people Happy For that is all Anyone wants To be.
~Beneath the stars~
Lovers kiss Beneath the stars To forget the past And to heal their scars.
Each one lost a daughter, A son and sister too. The curtains drop, The tragic end. Applause is all that’s heard.
~To live a dream~
I live my life Inside my head, A lovelier place Besides my bed.
I run With my past far behind. Only the present matters And the future is undefined.
And though I find No comfort at home. The world’s open pastures, Forever I shall roam.
~love with uncertainty~
My heart beats with Uncertainty Of a love without a Warranty.
~Like a spirit~
She moves like a spirit In the evening When no one else will see. No one could ever understand her, No one except for me.
~In a perfect world~
Maybe in a perfect world, Lovers dance with each other. Maybe in a perfect world, People don’t criticize one another. And maybe if it were a perfect world, Love would have no expiration. Sadly this is not the case And any other expectation Only brings sorrow.
~From the heart~
So it may seem That my words are extreme But they come from the heart And that’s all you should glean.
~To love and protect~
Hello darling girl, The world is full of trouble. I will keep you safe.
It always tends to snow When October goes But I’ll rejoice With full delight When we go out To snowball fight.
~Life: the leaky boat~
Life is like A sinking boat. I struggle just To stay afloat.
To leave would mean To forget the past, The only thing, That keeps the memory of you Alive.
~An elegant evening~
Each and every evening, I find myself Reading books From my shelf.
~Love's a mess~
Beathing deeply, I confess. Love is just One big mess.
~Stay calm and hold fast~
Remember those who came before. Those who braced the ocean’s roar. In times of trouble Remember these, For they never surrendered And now they are A testament of hope For you and for me.
~A new dawn~
Dreary days roll on With each approaching dawn But since we’ve been together My days are getting better
I was falling down a spiral When you rescued me And it has helped me see How good life can be
Do you really love me Or is this just a game? How am I to know? You treat me just the same.
~Love blooms also~
Flowers blooming In the spring Remind me of The love you bring
~Not far from the tree~
The apple plummets Not far from the tree And finds new life In the freshly cultivated ground. I suppose we all began As seedlings once And will surely grow to fall.
Snow cascades toward The ground below my feet. It’s funny how Frozen flakes of water Create something so beautiful And so serene.
~Think of me~
Spread out your wings And don’t look back. The thought of me Is all you need. To fly with the birds And live in the clouds.
~A penny for your sorrows~
If I had a penny I pay it just to hear All your heavy sorrows And maybe stop a tear
Petals of the flower Dampened by the tears Of tormented lovers In their teenage years
~From the mouth drifts poetry~
My mouth gives birth To words and monologues. Some call it language, I call it poetry.
~Love waits for no one~
Love waits for no one Not even me, So I must hurry And get on one knee.
~Where love never fades~
I’m looking for shelter, I’m looking for shade. Someplace where love Will never fade.
~To lose a lover~
Last night I went to bed And woke up all alone. It seems I’ve lost a lover And must make it on my own.
